How Job Match works

Screening software generally compares an application against the wording of the specific posting rather than your career in general. Job Match compares your resume with one job description and shows which of its keywords you already carry and which you are missing. It is different from Resume Checker, which looks at your resume's overall structure and ATS-readiness on its own, without reference to any particular posting — use that one first for general readiness, and Job Match once you have a specific job in mind.

  1. Paste your resume and the job posting

    Both as plain text. Include the responsibilities and requirements sections rather than just the blurb at the top — the requirements section is usually where the most specific terms are written down.

  2. The two are compared

    An AI model reads both documents and scores the keyword overlap out of 100, which is the kind of signal screening software uses when it ranks applications.

  3. You see the gap, in both directions

    You get up to five important keywords your resume already covers, up to five it is missing, and two suggested fixes for this particular role.

What the comparison surfaces

  • Job-specific terms present in the posting but absent from your resume

Common questions

What does the match score actually measure?
How well the wording of your resume lines up with the wording of that specific job description. It reflects keyword overlap, which is one of the signals screening software uses — it is not a judgement of whether you could do the job.
Do I need an account?
No. Your result appears on-screen right after you submit. A name and email are asked for so we can follow up with relevant resume-improvement tips or PixelDock Apps updates. There is no password, no card and no trial.
How much text should I paste?
Both boxes need at least a hundred characters or so of real text, and each accepts up to about 12,000. Paste the full job posting including the requirements section — that is where most of the keywords live.
Why does it only show a few missing keywords?
The free check is a preview: it surfaces up to five matched and five missing keywords plus the two highest-impact fixes. It is meant to show you where the gap is, not to be the full rewrite.
Should I just stuff the missing keywords into my resume?
We would not recommend it. A list of keywords with nothing behind them reads poorly to the person who opens your resume next. Work the missing terms into real achievements you can talk about in an interview.
