How Resume Checker works
Upload a PDF, DOCX, or TXT resume — or paste the text directly — and get a score plus three issues worth addressing first. You see the result before PixelDock asks for any contact details, and you can leave without creating an account.
Upload or paste your resume
Upload a PDF, DOCX, or TXT file, or paste the text directly into the box. Older .doc files aren't supported yet — open the file and paste the text across instead.
See the score first
You get a score out of 100 covering ATS-friendliness and general writing quality. The scoring is deliberately honest rather than flattering: most real resumes land between 45 and 75, and 90 or above is reserved for genuinely exceptional ones.
Choose whether you want follow-up
Alongside the score you get three specific problems plus one rewrite example. Only after that result do you see an optional form for PixelDock resume-improvement follow-up; your score does not depend on filling it in.
What the review looks at
- Whether section headings and structure follow common, widely-parsed conventions
- Keywords relevant to the target role, when you name one
- Bullets that list duties where they could show measurable results
- Vague or filler phrasing that crowds out your strongest detail
- One weak line rewritten, so you can see what a stronger version reads like
Common questions
- Is the free resume check actually free?
- Yes. There is no card, no trial, no account, and no name or email required to see the score. Your result appears on-screen after you submit the resume. Afterward, you can optionally add your contact details if you want PixelDock follow-up and resume-improvement tips.
- How long does my resume need to be?
- At least a couple of hundred characters of real resume text, and up to about 12,000 characters. Pasting a single line or a job title will return a zero score, because there is nothing there to screen.
- Why is my score lower than I expected?
- The review is tuned to be honest rather than encouraging, because a flattering score helps nobody who is trying to get shortlisted. Most genuinely decent resumes score in the 45 to 75 range, so a result in that band is normal rather than a bad sign.
- Do you store the resume I paste?
- The scoring step itself does not create a PixelDock lead record and does not require your contact details. If you choose the optional follow-up after seeing your result, a short resume snippet is stored with the details you submit so follow-up can be relevant. See the privacy and data-retention policies for the full details.
- Can I run it more than once?
- Yes, though the free check is rate-limited to a few runs in a short window per visitor, because each one costs real AI credits. If you hit the limit, wait a few minutes and try again.
- Does a high score guarantee an interview?
- No. The PixelDock score is an internal diagnostic designed to highlight potential resume issues and improvement opportunities — not the exact score an employer's ATS would produce. Different employers and ATS platforms evaluate the same resume differently, and a strong score here doesn't guarantee recruiter review or an interview.
