JOB PORTAL RESUME GUIDE

Prepare your resume before applying on Naukri, Indeed or LinkedIn Jobs

The portal is only the entry point. Your resume still needs readable structure, evidence that matches the role, and truthful keywords from the vacancy. Use this checklist before you press Apply.

The 10-minute pre-application workflow

  1. 1. Check basic ATS readability. Use standard headings, selectable text, consistent dates and a simple reading order.
  2. 2. Read the complete vacancy. Mark the repeated skills, responsibilities and required experience that you genuinely have.
  3. 3. Reorder for relevance. Put the most useful evidence near the top instead of making the recruiter hunt for it.
  4. 4. Compare resume and job description. Add missing terminology only where it accurately describes your work.
  5. 5. Verify every claim. Check names, dates, qualifications, links, metrics and contact details before upload.

Priority portal checklists

These three offer the clearest initial search intent and the strongest fit with PixelDock's ATS and job-match tools.

Resume checklist for Naukri

India

Strong fit for candidates applying repeatedly across role and experience filters.

  • ✓ Make the target role obvious in the headline and opening summary.
  • ✓ Keep the uploaded resume consistent with the experience, skills and dates in your portal profile.
  • ✓ Use the vocabulary of the specific vacancy in truthful skills and achievement bullets.
  • ✓ Replace duty lists with evidence: scope, result, time saved, quality improved or revenue influenced.

Resume checklist for Indeed

India, US, UK and Australia

Broad reach makes one generic resume tempting, but role-specific relevance matters more.

  • ✓ Maintain a clean master resume, then tailor a copy for each role family.
  • ✓ Put the most relevant recent experience first and remove unrelated detail that hides it.
  • ✓ Use conventional headings such as Experience, Education and Skills.
  • ✓ Compare the final draft with the full job description before applying.

Resume checklist for LinkedIn Jobs

Global

The resume and public profile can be reviewed together, so inconsistent claims weaken trust.

  • ✓ Align job titles, employers and dates across the resume and LinkedIn profile.
  • ✓ Tailor the resume to the vacancy even when the profile remains broader.
  • ✓ Lead with achievements relevant to the advertised responsibilities.
  • ✓ Do not invent skills, metrics or seniority to imitate the posting.

Regional and specialist portals

US technology and startup roles

Dice, Wellfound and ZipRecruiter

Show the relevant stack, product context and measurable delivery near the top. For startup roles, explain ownership and outcomes; for specialist technical roles, make current tools and depth easy to scan.

Review the US resume format guide

UK roles

Reed, Totaljobs, Indeed UK and LinkedIn Jobs

Use UK spelling where it matches the advert, avoid a photo and unnecessary personal details, and keep evidence tied to the role. A concise personal profile should state the target and strongest relevant proof.

Review the UK CV format guide

Middle East roles

Bayt, GulfTalent and LinkedIn Jobs

State location or relocation availability clearly when it matters, surface relevant sector experience, and avoid unsupported claims about visas, licences or regional experience.

Australia and Southeast Asia

SEEK, JobStreet and LinkedIn Jobs

Match local role terminology from the vacancy, foreground relevant work rights or location only when accurate, and keep the document simple enough to parse after a portal upload.

Why applications get no interview calls

The resume is too broad. A document written for five unrelated roles gives no role a convincing case.

The evidence is buried. Relevant achievements appear after generic summaries, old jobs or long duty lists.

The wording does not match the vacancy. The experience may be relevant, but the resume never uses the role's truthful terminology.

The file is difficult to parse. Decorative columns, text boxes, icons or image-based text can disrupt the reading order.

The candidate applies without comparing. A quick resume-to-description check can expose obvious gaps before submission.

Frequently asked questions

Do Naukri, Indeed and LinkedIn use the same ATS?

No. A portal may collect the application, but the employer can process it in its own recruiting system. Use a clean, text-readable resume and tailor it to the specific job instead of trying to guess one universal ATS score.

Should I use the same resume for every job portal?

Keep one accurate master resume, then create a focused version for each type of role. Change the summary, skills and achievement order only when the changes are supported by your real experience.

Should I copy every keyword from a job description?

No. Include relevant terms naturally in real achievements and skills. Keyword stuffing can make the resume harder for a recruiter to trust and does not replace evidence that you did the work.

Should I upload PDF or DOCX?

Follow the employer's instructions first. Otherwise use a simple file with selectable text and verify that headings, dates and bullets remain readable after upload. Keep both PDF and DOCX versions available.
