What to get right on a product manager resume
The sample wording and figures below are examples, not claims to copy. Keep only employers, tools, qualifications, dates and results you can support from your own experience.
Frame every bullet as an outcome, not an output
"Launched a feature" is output. "Launched a feature that lifted 30-day retention by 8%" is outcome — and outcome is what separates a strong PM resume from a generic one.
Show you owned the full lifecycle, not just one stage
Discovery, prioritization, working with engineering and design, launch, and measuring the result — if you owned more than one of these, say so explicitly, since many candidates only describe the launch.
Name real products, even if you can't share metrics
If confidentiality prevents you from sharing hard numbers, still name the product and describe the scope and your role concretely — vague bullets read as evasive, specific-but-unquantified ones don't.
Highlight cross-functional leadership explicitly
PM is fundamentally about influence without authority — call out that you worked directly with engineering, design, and go-to-market, since that collaboration is exactly what interviewers probe for.

Should a PM resume include technical skills?
List them briefly if genuinely relevant (SQL, Figma, analytics tools) — but keep the emphasis on product outcomes and leadership, not a technical skills wall better suited to an engineering resume.
How long should a resume be?
