What to get right on a nurse resume
The sample wording and figures below are examples, not claims to copy. Keep only employers, tools, qualifications, dates and results you can support from your own experience.
Lead with your license and core certifications
RN license, BLS, ACLS, or specialty certifications belong right after your name or in your summary — this is the first thing both a recruiter and an ATS filter for.
Specify your unit, specialty, and patient ratios
"Worked in a hospital" tells a reader almost nothing. "ICU nurse managing a 1:2 patient ratio in a 20-bed unit" tells them exactly the environment and intensity you're used to.
Quantify patient-outcome or safety metrics where you genuinely have them
Reduced fall rates, improved patient-satisfaction scores, faster response times — if you have a real number tied to a safety or quality initiative, it belongs on the resume.
Name the EMR/EHR systems you're trained on
Epic, Cerner, Meditech — naming the specific systems you've used is a fast, common keyword match for clinical hiring managers.

Should I list every shift and unit I've ever worked?
Focus on the roles most relevant to the position you're applying for — a long, undifferentiated list of every assignment is harder to scan than a focused, detailed set of the 3-4 most relevant ones.
