What to get right on a business analyst resume
The sample wording and figures below are examples, not claims to copy. Keep only employers, tools, qualifications, dates and results you can support from your own experience.
Show requirements-gathering as a concrete process
"Gathered requirements" is vague. "Ran 15 stakeholder interviews to define requirements for a new claims system" shows exactly how you work and at what scale.
Quantify the process you improved
"Streamlined onboarding" says little. "Streamlined onboarding from 6 steps to 3, cutting processing time 35%" gives a reader something concrete to evaluate.
List the tools that bridge business and technical work
SQL, Excel, Visio, JIRA, Confluence — these are the tools BA job postings scan for, since they signal you can operate on both sides of the business/technical divide.
Use plain language, not just BA jargon
Terms like "as-is/to-be process mapping" are fine in moderation, but a bullet should still be readable by a hiring manager outside the BA function — lead with what changed, then the method.
