What to get right on a hr resume

Quantify your recruiting or people metrics
"Managed hiring" is generic. "Reduced average time-to-hire from 45 to 28 days across 60+ roles" shows exactly the kind of impact an HR leader looks for in a resume.
Show the scope you owned
Headcount managed, departments supported, or employees served — a specific number ('supported a 200-person org across 3 departments') tells a reader the real scale of your experience.
Name the HRIS and ATS platforms you've used
Workday, BambooHR, Greenhouse, Lever — naming the actual systems you're fluent in is often a direct keyword match against the job posting.
Balance people-skills language with concrete process ownership
"Strong interpersonal skills" is assumed for HR roles and rarely differentiates you. Pair it with something you actually built or owned — a policy, an onboarding program, an engagement initiative.
